Heavy rain metacritic1/2/2023 If you love a slow-burning crime drama, or have only recently discovered the studio’s work, then you’re in for a treat. Remastered now for PS4, the game looks and plays better than ever. You’ll be challenged to make tough decisions and search for clues that will help track down the killer and save a missing child.Ī deep, atmospheric narrative-driven gameplay experience, Heavy Rain established the branching story-telling approach which has become Quantic Dream’s signature. Set in a rain-soaked recreation of Philadelphia, you’ll follow the trail of a mysterious serial murderer known as the ‘Origami Killer’, through the actions of four main characters, each connected somehow to the criminal. Hot on the heels of the hugely successful Detroit: Become Human we’re keeping the Quantic Dream train rolling throughout July by revisiting its break-out PS3 exclusive Heavy Rain. If you’re looking for a unique online experience to play with or against friends and enjoy mastering deep gameplay mechanics, Absolver is the perfect thing for you. What’s really special is how well it all meshes: playing either PVE or PVP you’ll set out into the lost empire of Adal as a humble prospect and build your own combat style as you progress, picking up weapons, meeting new combatants to hone your skills against or befriending fellow travellers to spar with, trade secrets and impart fighting wisdom. Part RPG, part fighting game, part shared-world online brawler, Absolver stands alone as something a little bit different. In its wide majority, the international press is hungry for change.Phew! Well, that was one heck of an E3. This resistance is eventually extremely marginal, much more than I was expecting. Of course, there are some negative articles defending coherently a point of view, there are also positive article without real analysis, but in overall, Heavy Rain permitted to see where were the last islets of bitter conservatism, those where we think the video game shall never changer neither try to change it, just keep it as it is since twenty years, improving itself but not too much. Here again, no analysis, no reflection, no recoil, just barely intelligent waffle without an inch of content. A strange article with the shape of a reckoning where my name appears one line out of two, as if the review was about myself and not the game. After three months of disagreeable articles regarding Heavy Rain, (including two before the preview, which means without even having access to the game), the review was predictable. Formerly a magazine of reflection and vanguard, the magazine is decidedly no longer what it used to be. Other special mention to the UK magazine Edge, another international exception. Developers and publishers try to make evolve video games, one day a certain Internet press will also have to question itself. No reflection, no analysis, only a text from a 14-years-old kid in a playground. The whole French press reserved a very positive reception to the game, in line with the other countries reactions, but those two sites somehow totally missed the game.īeyond the mediocre scores (including the lowest score among all countries, three points below the worldwide average nonetheless.), it's the mediocrity of the articles that hurt me. The two main French video game sites are in the front line of those that didn't like (decidedly we're never prophet in our own country.). "The disagreeable articles are eventually to count on the fingers of a hand, which is quite unexpected. To describe those critics works, he uses quite rude words: the mediocrity of the articles, kiddy texts, no analysis, no reflection, no recoil. "David Cage used his blog hosted at IGN to say what he thinks about certain sites and magazines reviews, including the "two main French video game sites", (which gave Heavy Rain a 7.5/10) and (which gave 6/10).
